Dr. Carlana Lindeman provided Margaret Angeconeb and myself with an update on her work with the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative today. Visit http://www.mai-iam.ca/ for more information about this initiative.

Under CURRENT INITIATIVES, Carlana described the different efforts being made to improve educational opportunities for First Nation students across Canada.

The MODEL SCHOOLS initiative includes two Ontario First Nation schools located in Kettle and Stony Point First Nation (Hillside School - http://hillside.ca) and Walpole Island First Nation. It is hoped that their work in Literacy and Numeracy will help guide other First Nation schools in supporting effective and successful learning opportunities and experiences for students, parents and staff.
