FNSSP Community Workplan Meetings and Updates
by Willow Fiddler - Wednesday, 8 September 2010, 11:48 AM

A friendly reminder to all FNSSP communities...

I will be following up through phone and email today to schedule workplan meetings as soon as possible.  These meetings are generally held via teleconference and will take no more than 30 minutes of your time.

Also, on-site communities visits will start next week (September 13-17) by our database trainers Angus and Jesse.  Workplan meetings need to take place before any community visits so that the appropriate planning and support can be identified, eg. Is your workstation set-up?  Have you gathered all the required information for database input?  How's your internet connectivity?

The workplan meetings will provide us with your school's updates and any required support.  We need to know where you are at with your database collection and input for both the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years.

I look forward to getting in touch with each of you FNSSP workers and hearing about the great progress you are doing in your schools and community!

Feel free to leave a comment here or start your own discussion topic with the other FNSSP community liaison workers - this is YOUR network!

Hi Willow,

If you tried calling last week, we only had 3 days of work and we had tribal hunt and death in the community.  We just returned to work today.

Hi Evelyn - thank you for checking in smile

I'd like to hear more on how you and Annie are doing - it looks like Kirsty had a workplan meeting with Sachigo on August 23rd.

How is last year's attendance records coming along?

Has the initial set-up for the new 2010-2011 school year been completed?

As one of the communities that have progressed more in terms of the database entry, perhaps you can share some of the challenges you've faced and how you've overcome them.

Good to hear from you and I will follow up personally with a phone call this week.  In the meantime, keep using this meeting place to stay in touch with myself and the other FNSSP workers.

Hi all!

I hope everyone is finding themselves settling into the new school year.  This time of year can be somewhat overwhelming and chaotic as we make transitions with new students, staff, and policies.  Fun stuff smile

I want to give an update on the workplan meetings we've had to date:

Over the past two weeks, the K-Net FNSSP team (myself, Jesse, and Angus) have met with Pearl (Keewaywin), Harlon (Cat Lake), Darren (Deer Lake), Bruce (Bearskin), Kristen (Poplar) and Terry (Kingfisher).

Our main priority is getting each FNSSP worker caught up with the database system to accurately reflect student info/attendance records for the 2009-2010 school year.  Also, by now you should be in the process of gathering all the school info for the 2010-2011 school year, preparing yourself and the teachers for inputting attendance records for this school year, and getting ready for report card time (it will be here faster than you think!)

And so the purpose of workplan meetings!  If you haven't already heard from me - you will smile

Community visits have been confirmed for Keewaywin on September 21 and Poplar Hill on September 27.  More community visits are in the works for North Caribou Lake and others as we identify them through the workplan meetings.

With all of that said, keep up the good work!  With hunting/cultural weeks just around the bend, hope you all enjoy the beautiful colors of fall and maybe kill a moose or two.

Willow
