Books for reluctant readers

For those of you who are looking for books to engage reluctant readers I suggest the ORCA books.  There are books for different reading levels and ages.  The "teen sounding" books and the "sports" series have been particularly popular among our students at Pelican. Even the most reluctant readers are eager for me to purchase new titles.  They are affordable at 9.95 per book or you can buy them by collection.  Here is the website  http://www.orcabook.com/

Another series of books that has been particularly popular here at Pelican is the Green Star Lake series.  These are fiction books that revolve around teenagers from an isolated, Northern Manitoba, First Nation Community.  It is a series of 4 books, and the students here are hoping for a 5th book soon.  They appeal to both male and female students.  I can honestly say the majority of our students have read, or are in the process of reading, these books.  They cover some serious issues and are probably not appropriate for younger readers but great for teens.  Here is the website.  http://www.greenstarlake.com/
