I recently attended the Ministry Conference in Thunder Bay and heard about a really great idea. A contest for students called WHO's READING?? -Take pictures of all staff members reading their favourite book with only part of the staff member showing. -Display these pictures in the school and have students try to identify which staff member is reading which book. It creates a dialogue with students and staff to show that everyone in the school is reading. -The next step is to take pictures of people from the community reading and have students do a similar contest. Then invite these community members in to the school to have discussion with students about what they are reading. |
