Hello FNSSP friends, The NED Supplementary Courses Program is gearing up for another year of online courses. This year we will be offering the following programs: Strengthening the Core (for grade 7 and 8 students) This program focuses on strengthening skills and knowledge in the three core subject areas, namely Science, Math and English Literacy. Each course is about 8 weeks long and requires about three hours per week (local teachers pick the time). Students are able to participate at their own pace (no fixed deadlines for assignments). All submitted work is graded by a qualified teacher and marks are only accessible by the local teacher. Schedule:
Reach Ahead Program (for grade 8 students) Course: Learning Strategies 1: Skills for Success in Secondary School (GLS1O) This program allows grade 8 students in First Nation schools to earn 1 high school credit. The GLS10 course focuses on learning strategies to help students become better, more independent learners. Students will learn how to develop and apply literacy and numeracy skills, personal management skills, and interpersonal and teamwork skills to improve their learning and achievement in school, the workplace, and the community. The course helps students build confidence and motivation to pursue opportunities for success in secondary school and beyond. Schedule:
