Spotlight on Learning - Becoming Agents of Change

Workshop Request for Proposals

The Ontario Literacy Coalition (OLC) is requesting proposals for the upcoming 2010 Conference, titled Spotlight on Learning: Becoming Agents of Change.

In the fast-paced world of literacy and essential skills, each literacy practitioner and administrator is an agent of change because they impact lives every day through learning. The 2010 Spotlight on Learning conference supports that work by offering/sharing practical tools and advice. Going one step further, the OLC and its partners want to encourage literacy practitioners and administrators to become agents of change in their community – influencing public policy and public opinion by making literacy the fundamental issue in their communities

The 2010 Spotlight on Learning conference seeks to build a foundation for learning, upon which vibrant and progressive communities can be built. How can we promote literacy as a tool for positive change within our communities? By Becoming Agents of Change.

Workshop proposals should address the theme of community engagement and at least one of the streams outlined below (addressing more than one will further your proposal’s chance of success). Preference will be given to workshops showcasing the importance of policy, research and/or practical tools.

Presenters will receive a $100 honorarium per workshop, free conference registration (for the day of the presentation) as well as complimentary travel to Toronto, Ontario and one-night accommodations at the Delta Chelsea Hotel.
