Robin shared a brief and practical overview of what the Federal Governments responsibilities and intentions are towards First Nations and Aboriginal Organizations with respect to their Duty to Consult and Accommodate. Sam Manitowabi spoke about his role as the EDO of Lac Seul First Nation and what their experiences were through resource development, joint ventures and the community experience through the Duty to Consult Process with respect to the community membership, leadership, administrative and technical staff, the elders, lawyers, consultants, private industry (Ontario Power Generation OPG) and specific arms of both the Provincial and Federal Government.

Peter shared an overview of the Land Use Planning Process and his experience in working with the East Winnipeg Lake First Nations. He shared several tips and lessons learned when developing the plan, working with government and neighbouring communities.

Wabanong Nakaygum Okimawin (WNO) is the group that Peter made reference to during his presentation. The link contains maps, presentations and stories of how the plan was created. Poplar River First Nation also has some great maps and stories describing their involvement in the process.

Ed gave an overview and explanation of the use and meaningfulness of Land Use Planning. His presentation discussed the project areas where Land Use Planning is needed, such as infrastructure projects, GIS Mapping, the most important Land Use Planning Tool, and Land Use Plan Implementation.

Tom provided an overview of and facilitated discussion around issues surrounding Parkland Legislation and both permitted and prohibited activities in Ontario Parklands, classifications of Ontario Parks, the Far North Act and its implicatins to First Nations, origins and changes in the Waterways Legislation and different definitions of Waterways, as well as the difference in viewpoint between First Nations, the province of Ontario and the Federal Government regarding Aboriginal Rights.
