If you want to share the Digital Libraries that you looked at for the assignment, post them here. Thanks!

Here are the three I used:

1. Project Pereus: An archive to preserve literature from Greco-Roman era civilizations.
2. Project Gutenberg: I'm sure you've been all over this one so I won't bore you with the details.
3. Digital Himalaya: Dedicated to the preservation of tradtional Himalayan culture and rituals.

Other than Gutenberg I'm not sure if they have any relevant content. They may have some interesting ideas you could use...

hey Jesslyn,

these are the 3 that I analyzed:

International Digital Children's Library: http://en.childrenslibrary.org/

Perseus DIgital Library: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/
(I noticed that one of the respondants to the survey is interested in Classical Studies!)

DIgital Library of India: http://dli.iiit.ac.in/

I looked at the Internet Archive, the Digital Library of India and Bookshare. We are all familiar with the IA. The Digital Library of India (dli.ernet.in), has quite a broad collection in English and is principally for scholars. It might be of interest to some people, but probably not specifically for the communities we hope to reach. If we want to provide links to as many DLs as possible, put it in, if not it is of marginal usefulness.

Bookshare (bookshare.org) is a really awesome DL for people with print disabilities. It even has copyrighted material available in formats used for braille, audible display and scalable pdf. You have to prove a print disability to become a member and have access, and of course other equipment might be needed for the special formats, but this DL could be really great for people with print disabilities.

The ones I looked at were Project Gutenberg, the Library of Congress, and the European Library. I had a great time learning about all of these, since I didn't know they existed before this class. Doing this assignment really helped me understand the possibilities that digital libraries can provide the ODBS- too bad the paper wasn't due earlier.

By the way, I had some difficulties with accessing the info on the E.L.; it seemed that only certain possibilities presented when searching the E.L. name through Blackle would allow me to reach this library... does anyone have any idea why this would be so difficult?
