Systems Assessment Criteria (Drupal, Moodle, others)

Hi everyone (systems specifically. ;) ),
I know that Brenda has had the idea of putting together a set of criteria and guidelines for assessing and evaluating the design and usefullness of any online management systems. Brenda, could you perhaps put up some ideas that you have already, and we can use this thread to refine those criteria and considerations? We have all had ideas so far, but it might help to consolidate the ideas here in one thread, from which everyone can pull from?
I will be inviting some members from digital contents and marketing/outreach team to join us here on Knet's meeting place.
Margaret

In regards to this topic of evaluation criteria for online management systems I was wondering if there may be a need in the future as a feature of the system to have the ability to change the language (e.g. switching a site from english to french) but from english to another language? Is there a need for something like this? Would the communities like this? Should this be a criteria for evaluation in regards to the online management system/online database? If these questions are something that no one feels need to be asked or has already done feel free to open up about it.

I think those should definitely be part of the 'criteria' for any systems that's in place. That is, expandability to accomodate the "wish list" of what these communities might want to accomplish. I think it will be worth while for us to anticipate/ask the kinds of things that we imagine an ODBS would ultimately achieve, reflect those expectations in a system spec sheet, and make it available for reference for any furture system developers and administrators to keep in mind.
