A few Moodle 2 Questions
by Kevin Dempsey - Wednesday, 2 May 2012, 04:04 PM

Hi,

1. Is there any news about when the amalgamated lesson type will be available? I want to know what to tell teachers who are beginning to create lessons in Moodle 2. If they create "advanced uploading" type lessons, will the conversion to the amalgamated lesson type be easy (a conversion script)? If it is imminent, I'll tell them to hold off for now.

2. Is there any way to enable teachers to upload a response file from withing the FN Marking Manager or from within quick grading? Right now the only way to upload response files seems to be from going through the lesson itself, which is more time-consuming. It could be a really useful feature for us, as we are going to rely less on the online editor and more on uploaded files.

3. Can we have the "Update This Assignment" button back in the lesson page itself? It's convenient (rather than editing the activity from the course view.)

Thanks.
PS Any follow up on the TeX filter question would be great... it looks like a great tool if the font colour and size can be used.

Hi Kevin,

1. The beta version of the new assignment module is out. I will see if I can install it somewhere so that we can take a look.

2. I think this will have to wait until we look at the new assignment module, since we will likely shift away from the old assignment types in the near future.

3. Not sure if/how we would do that. This seems to be the standard format for 2.x. Will look into it.

Re: TeX filter, this is really out of my league. I suggest you look for a TeX forum on www.moodle.org.

Thx,
Fernando

Hi again,

I managed to install the beta version of the new assignment module. You can test it here: http://ned.knet.ca/demo/m23-testa using "teacher" as both username and password. Feel free to create new activities.

Unfortunately, the upgrade feature has not been implemented yet, which means that we can't convert any of our existing courses that contain Assignments. This should be ready soon, but for now feel free to test the new module.

Thx,
Fernando
