does anyone else have to this trouble with knet?
by virginia necan - Monday, 9 May 2011, 08:57 AM

i enjoyed knet for a couple of years since 07, but come to realize..that all the trouble began with Ip's and trackers...I used to read random homepages and learned some interesting things...from people all over the north...but now I don't even go check pages anymore because I have had trouble with someone trying to hack my computer...most everyone has trackers and some open to view and it lists Ip addys...it seems most everyone is paranoid with haters..stalkers...whatever..it's so bad something as this site is turned into a breeding ground for wannabe hackers...

Hi Virginia.  I've never had this problem... What makes you suspect it was someone with a MyKnet page trying to hack your computer?  Adam

hi..adam...i have done a lot of research.(google)..installed a tracker...and they like to use the this page's proxy setting(knet-keewin)....this person scans all visible trackers looking for ip's...before this person found out how to manipulate locations..times..etc..the hits were coming from winnipeg..i constantly got intrusion alerts from my computer...the computer's firewall..it all started with a death threat...on my knet cbox...this person still checks my page daily on knet, it's just someone who is jealous of her boyfriend liking me...this was way back almost 15 yrs ago...a woman scorned is right...

Virginia ... The issue here a person who is creating a problem on your web site. KNET staff always advise everyone to create an online web environment that meets their own needs but is safe. It sounds like what you describe is a chat box that you have on your page where people can leave messages and create these types of problems for you. The CHAT BOX is a service that some other providers deliver. This feature has nothing to do with KNET.

As the owner of your web page you are free to add whatever you want to it as long as there is no offensive material on it that other people feel is not appropriate. That is the only rule KNET has for myknet.org homepages. You can choose to delete any material that you do not like that is on your home page. It is the same thing with your own home where you make choices about what happens there.

So blaming KNET for what is happening on your home page is like blaming everyone else for what happens in your own home. If you do not want people writing stuff on your chat box then make those entries invisible or simply remove the chat box. That is your choice.

I hope this helps ...

Brian

was not blaming knet..i stated this person uses knet!...just letting you know...since you can use this as an example to where you upgrade to where whoever goes on must sign on to view pages where it would stop most of this kind of harassment from happening....that's what i thought the survey was about how to improve things...constructive criticism??....
