Hi Tony,

To add multiple users to a group, do the following:

1. Select the first user

2. Hold the SHIFT key and select the last user.

This will also select all users inbetween. Here's a screencast showing this process: http://screencast.com/t/YmVlOWI2ZD 

As for speed, creating groups for the first time is a server-intensive process so if your server has low resources then it will be slow. This is something we're hoping to address in the next update. But, as you can tell in the screencast, it normally isn't too bad.
