I agree with Brian that we need to flesh out potential research projects among the team. I have no idea yet who I might partner with in my area. So to begin, I would like to see a project on how northern communities are adapting (i.e. demonstrating relience) to changing forestry conditions--economic, social and environmental (including carbon storage issues, so addressing the "post-carbon era" issue). I have a PhD student working with me, Lynn Palmer, who has also been a member of this group, that I would like to see funded through the project, and I have multiple community connections across the province through the Northern Ontario Sustainable Communities Partnership. Do we need to bring more of these kinds of ideas forward in order to give people the go-ahead to develop proposals that could be considered and then approved for inclusion in the final CURA proposal?
