Good morning team ... I want to CONGRATULATE and THANK each and every one of the members of the Winter 2009 Information and Culture class who worked so hard to bring this ODBS work to this point of development with First Nations across the north.
Yesterday's final information session was a wonderful opportunity to share all the great information and learning experiences gained throughout this 13 week course (I bet it felt longer for everyone doing all the work, eh [smiles]).
In my mind, what everyone achieved throughout this course is something very special. I sure appreciated the opportunity to participate and contribute in the little way that I was able to join in your work.
As I mentioned during yesterday's session, I learned A LOT from each of you and I plan to use the products you created and shared on this web site to help move this work forward.
I am hopeful that others will join me in this effort and we can find ways to develop and support these resources and opportunities in the remote and rural First Nations across Canada.
MEEGWETCH to one and all ... I do look forward to working with each of you in the future!!
I've spent so much time focussing on this project over the last 13 weeks I can't help but feel a bit lost now that it's over.
Word of the day: "encapture". Thanks Margaret, I'm writing that into the margins of my Webster's as we speak.
Brian, if you can use the Moodle site to acquire government funding for your communities, then we've all done something worthwhile. So many people took the time to share with us, it's fitting that something tangible go back the other way.
For those of you who are graduating, best of luck in the real world. Nadia mentioned that a few students had expressed interest in continuing. If so, hopefully I'll see you over the summer.
This is only my first year as a part-time student, so I'm sure I'll stay involved some how. =) Besides, there is still some work that needs to be done on this moodle in order to 'wrap up' the course.
Brian, the final reports have been submitted, and we are just waiting for Prof. Caidi and Adam to review and comment on them. We'll put up digital versions of those revised copies asap for everyone to have access to. If you'd like a sneak peak at them I'm sure that could be arranged too.
I'm going to take a break this weekend, and maybe spend some time next week brainstorming about how to organize the information. I'm not sure how to archive some of the class discussions (i.e. move them to another page perhaps?), and I believe that the proposals + final reports that every team submitted with give everyone more than enough background information on the class.
One additional thing is that I am going to collect all the source files of art created (iMovie files, illustrator files, word files, original photo files, etc.) and upload them into the file storage area of this meeting place, so that they will be accessible by future participants.
Margaret, et al ... It would be great to get copies of the reports posted in this web environment. Even if they need to be changed or updated then the old ones can be removed and the new ones posted to replace them.
I look forward to reading everyone's reports and recommendations.
