by Angela Batsford.
I just tested out this feature and liked how it simplifies the process for students. This way they don't have to use a program on their computer to record audio and then attach a clip. It's all done directly in the activity.

The only thing that the teacher would have to do is to ensure that DeepFreeze or any other program like that is off when students go to use this for the first time. It requires something to be installed.

by Angela Batsford.
Brian,
thanks for sharing. I agree that resource would be good for professional development but more for those just beginning to use Moodle. It would be great if we could take what new plugs-ins that we have learned about in this forum and make a resource similar to this. I like it because its practical, so simple to read and very straightforward. I like the categories that she has created to evaluate each function too.

The guide is essentially a chart of things that you can do with Moodle and how those things can help you reach your pedagogical objectives.

Here's how the guide is read, pick a task such as "create a news forum" on the side of the chart then find an objective on the top of the chart. Follow the two columns to where they meet to find a color coded explanation of why a forum might be good for dissemintating information, but not so good for assessing learning.

You can download the chart here or explore the Cat's Pyjamas here.

Applications for Education
The Moodle Tool Guide for Teachers could be a great resource to share in professional development workshops.
by Angela Batsford.
I was curious about the Brainstorm Activity Module. Some curriculum expectations require students to work as a group, and thus some assignments ask students to brainstorm with a partner. However, not everyone has a partner physically present to do this. I thought that the Brainstorm activity would help alleviate that problem.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Does it work well? How perceptive are students of it?

by Fernando Oliveira*.

This module allows students to submit audio recording as assignments. Great tool for language instruction. Also a great for "spoken word" activities (poetry, rap, story-telling, etc.).

There's a number of modules that record audio in Moodle. NanoGong seems to be the most popular.

The NanoGong module and filter are both installed in Test Course 1. More info can be found here.
