Who is involved in the First Mile Public Outeach project?
The First Mile project is a partnership between First Nations ICT Regional Networks and university-based researchers. It showcases community-driven ICT development projects.
The First Nations partners belong to a national group of ICT organizations linked to the Assembly of First Nations. Historically, these organizations helped with First Nations SchoolNet services. They also offer technology and network support for communities. And they work with communities to deliver ICT support for health, justice, economic development and local government services.
The First Nations partners are:
- Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO) the Northern Chiefs Council (a tribal council serving First Nations in Ontario)
- First Nation Help Desk (FNHD) in Atlantic Canada
- First Nations Education Council (FNEC) in Quebec. Click here for their English site.

Visit our partners at VideoCom, who are conducting participatory research with remote and rural First Nations communities about broadband communications in Canada.
The site includes downloadable research publications, information about upcoming and archived events, and resources for videoconferencing.
