Description: Todd Cairns presented the workshop on Forest Fire smoke and your Health; he works in Red Lake as the Fire Management Technician. He presented the following topics about forest fires; smoke impacts, and smoke attributes, case study reviews and District Emergency Response Teams. He talked about the evacuations that occurred in 2002 and 2006: for the community of Deer Lake, Keewaywin, and North Spirit Lake. He talked about who makes the declaration and why the call is made to evacuate people in First Nations communities.
