On July 18, 2007 there was a videoconference about surviving breast cancer. The video that was presented was called “ Circle of Hope”. This video can be found on the breast cancer website on KO meeting place. The video is about three women who have survived breast cancer. They shared their story about their own personal battle with the cancer.
The second part of the conference was about Phyllis; she works in Balmertown with the Keewaytinook Okimakanak. The shared her story about her own battle with breast cancer. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. Her first thoughts were negative thoughts ie, “world falls apart, don’t want to accept it”. At first she didn’t want to go through with the treatments, but eventually she did.
She encourages all women to get regular check ups.
In conclusion, the workshop was very educational. The breast cancer is an on going website project. This site offers help to people who need to get more information about the cancer and lists great resources.
