Gallery is an open source web based photo album organizer. It has many more tools and functions than drupal's gallery module.
- Downloaded the latest (stable) version of Gallery from http://gallery.menalto.com/ Choose from Typical, Full or Minimum package, based on your needs.
- Extract the download to your computer.
- Open WinSCP and log into your server using your username and password, not the root login.
- Upload the entire contents of the extracted folder to a "gallery2" folder within "public_html"
- Open README.html from the gallery2 folder on your server (ex. http://myschool.firstnationschools.ca/gallery2/README.html) and follow each of the steps. Many will not be applicable to you as your database is already set up with drupal and you will be using the same database.
- Run the installer, which is a link off the README page.
- Download the Gallery module from Drupal http://drupal.org/project/gallery be sure to download the correct release for your version of Drupal (usually 5.x)
- Extract the download to your computer.
- Upload the extracted folder to your server using WinSCP. The location is public_html/sites/all/modules. If the "modules" folder doesn't exist you will have to create it.
- Log into your website and navigate to Administer/Site Building/Modules.
- Enable the Gallery module. You may also want to enable Gallery Menu and Gallery Profile, depending on your needs.
- Navigate to Administer/Site Configuration/Gallery settings. There may be a number of issues with the initial install, these are easily resolved. Follow instructions for each issue.
- Once the overall status of the installation is OK, you can begin to upload albums and photos using your Drupal site. If Image Block and Image Frame plugins are installed into Gallery you will be able to add random image blocks to your site using the Blocks tools.
