4AAA (Queensland):4AAA 98.9FM is the first Indigenous radio station in a capital city, 98.9FM has grown exponentially since it first went to air on Tuesday April 6, 1993. With a great blend of Country and Indigenous music, the station now attracts a large and diverse audience. |
4K1G (Queensland):4K1G Too Deadly has been operating for 10 years. The stations philosophy is to be the ‘voice of the community’, and each week they focus on a new and exciting initiative to keep the community involved and informed. 4K1G runs local programming out of Townsville for 18 hours a day. Their local breakfast show goes to Mackay, through Cape York via the BRACS network and also to Radio Larrakia in Darwin. The morning show from 9am to midday is a current affairs show hosted by Velma Gara. And their afternoon drive show also is broadcast out of Townsville. |
4MUR (Queensland):4MUR MY 105 FM is owned and operated by Mackay District Aboriginal & Islander Media Association. The station operates 24 hours a day with all programming comming from our broadcast centre in the CBD of Mackay. |
5NPY (South Australia and Northern Territory):Radio 5NPY Anangu Winkiku Satellite Network translates loosely as "everyone's satellite network" referring to all the people of the central western desert language groups. The network consists of eleven communities with their own BRACS (Broadcasting in Remote Aboriginal Scheme) radio stations that are hooked up to a central hub station in Umuwa. The Communities are: in South Australia: Fregon, Ernabella, Mimili, Indulkana, Amata, Pipalyatjara, Yalata; in the Northern Territory: Docker River, Imampa, Finke River, and Mutitjulu. |
5UMA (South Australia):Umeewarra Media's Radio call sign is 5UMA 89.1 FM. the main studios are in Port Augusta South Australia. The main transmitter is on Mount Brown in the Flinders Ranges overlooking the Northern Spencer Gulf. |
6GME (Western Australia):6GME Radio Goolarri 99.7 FM first commenced broadcasting on ABC Regional Radio in August, 1991 with a one hour a week magazine program. As the station developed and the skills of trainees flourished the station gradually increased its airtime to meet staff and community demand. The station was eventually broadcasting 25 hours per week on ABC until it started to operate its own community radio license in July 1998 by broadcasting 24 hours a day. |
6PRK (Western Australia):Radio 6PRK 98.1FM broadcasts in and around Halls Creek and operates for local communities. The station broadcasts a "The Best Of Everything" music format featuring Indigenous and country music as well as community announcements, news and information from in and around Hall's Creek. |
8KIN (Northern Territory):The Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) is an organisation founded in 1980 by Freda Glynn, Phillip Batty and John Macumba in order to expose Aboriginal music and culture to the rest of Australia from its Alice Springs media centre.
