The Manitoba E-Association, in partnership with the Nunavut Community Access Program, has organized a contest about connectivity projects.

The following is a press release from the organization; for more information visit their website:

N-CAP (Nunavut - Community Access Program) is proud to announce our Office of Learning and Essential Skills (“OLES”) project entitled “ICT Best Practices in Remote Aboriginal Communities”.

This project is being rolled out in two phases – the first is pan-territorial, which is now complete, and the second phase, is a nation-wide contest to gather stories and experiences from other CAP sites, rural, remote and Aboriginal communities or organizations.

In Phase 1 of this project, we learned that formal workshops and seminars are not the best delivery methods for 'Information and Communications Technology' (ICT) training in Inuit communities. The key is simply to find ways of engaging learners in the mode in which they are comfortable learning.

In Phase 2, we are seeking insight, knowledge, and capacity of ICT within community; best practices in delivery of adult ICT learning strategies in non-formal (non-classroom) settings that can be replicated by other CAP sites rural, remote and Aboriginal communities or organizations.

Do you have any examples of projects that prove ICT learning in a non-classroom setting? (see Contest section)

If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact us!
