Monday 14th: Happy Valentine's Day! The kids were doing activities and contests all day with their classes. I was chosen as a team leader in our snow sculpture contest for the grades 7/8. My team and I built a snowman with wings and a bow and arrow...CUPID! We were runner up. lol It was loads of fun, but i ate way too much candy!
Tuesday 15th: Today was Public Health Day at the school: that means that Representatives from everywhere (Treaty Three Police, Kenora Health Access Centre, Kenora Cheifs Advisory...) came to the school for presentations. As well as set up booths in the gym for the local folk. In the morning, I was able to work with 2 students before the classes were taken over by everybody's presentations.
Wednesday 16th: On this day, the staff was sent to Kenora for a Literacy Workshop. A woman from Scholastic Canada was showing ways to help students become stronger in literacy (guided reading, shared reading). Being a Literacy Worker myself, it was very informative.
Thursday 17th: Today I followed my daily schedule. Bringing kids in and working with them. The school was closed early because the staff had another workshop. This was about working with kids that have disabilities.
Friday 18th: The school was closed today because we had (yet another) workshop. This one was going to train the staff in using the SMARTboards. However, due to the radical weather change (raining, to freezing), the roads were very bad and the presenter wasnt going to make it. I hung around my office preparing my work sheets for the grade 4,5,6 class.
Overall the week was quite eventful considering everything that was scheduled.
