Videocom - broadband communications in remote and rural First Nations
by Brian Beaton - Tuesday, 30 March 2010, 06:47 AM

Another SSHRCC funded initiative that includes northern Ontario communities. From their web site at http://videocom.firstnation.ca

VideoCom started in September 2006 and will be ongoing at least until September 2012. The project is a research partnership among three First Nations organizations and two research organizations:

  • Keewaytinook Okimakanak
  • Atlantic Canada's First Nation Helpdesk
  • The First Nations Education Council
  • The National Research Council
  • The University of New Brunswick

Our research is exploring broadband communications in remote and rural First Nation communities in Canada. We are also exploring new ways to work together in participatory research when partners are separated by vast distances.
