Born and raised in rural area north of Bruce Mines. Worked in the community for many years on low-income, violence against women, non-profit housing and policy changes.  Returned to postgrad studies in late 90s, and for past 6 years have taught in the Community Economic and Social Development (CESD) program at Algoma U, as well as Research Director of NORDIK, a community-based research institute.
