National Aboriginal Achievement Fund

Aboriginal Health Careers
Health sciences such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, biology, chemistry, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, phar­macy, laboratory research and any other health field in which a study of hard sciences is a prerequisite.

Health Canada's First Nations and Inuit Health Branch provides funding for health bursaries and scholarships, Blueprint for the Future career fairs and Health in the Classroom. Purpose of the Program
• To provide financial support to Aboriginal people interested in pursuing studies in the Oil and Gas trades and technology sector in Alberta and Alberta Aboriginal apprentices

• To increase the awareness of potential careers in this sector among Aboriginal high school students and Aboriginal people

• To increase the number and quality of Aboriginal candidates to be employed in the Oil and Gas trades and technology sector

Rama Awards for Excellence (2011)

Casino Rama’s Awards for Excellence program was developed to provide financial support to aboriginal students from Ontario who are pursuing a graduate degree (i.e. Masters or Ph.D.), professional degree (i.e. law, medicine, dentistry, etc.) or post-secondary education (which includes an undergraduate degree).

Several awards of up to $5,000 each will be awarded to students enrolled in a graduate or professional university program. Several awards of up to $2,500 each will be awarded to students having completed at least one year of post-secondary education for studies at a community college or university. There are separate application processes for each program. Click on the links below to download complete instructions and applications.

Application deadline for this program is Friday, January 28, 2011. Completed applications and supporting documentation must be received by this date in order for your application to be considered. The Casino Rama Selection Committee will notify only the successful candidates (by telephone) by March 31, 2011.
